Not in the RED!

I have played about 100 tournaments and a couple hours in a ring game and I ended up loosing more. I decide I need to revitalize my roll so I play a 10+1 mtt (27 players) and guess what. I did good. I dont remember most of the hands but I kept a chip lead all throughout and this is the result, #1 baby!

I will try more to see if it will pay off in the long run. It was nice because i needed it and also because it took only about 1.75 hrs.

Good game.

Updates...

Ok, no new updates except... the more I play, the lower my stats go because the investment and ROI kind of beat each other up. LOL

I will show more data at the end of the month. Here is a hand that I played and the thought I had behind it.

I get AQ pre flop. I get one caller and its my action. I raise it obscenely! I figured that he would just fold and I am happy with the blinds. He calls...

Flop - 5, 4, 4 - he checks --- i think to myself... ok- he has low pockets or Ax and below... I push...

Sure enough - he called with pocket 3's. Ouch... but wait

Turn - A

river - 7

LOL.

Here's another one...

I am about to be blinded out - I push and I get one caller.

I have 8-4 off and he has A's!

I type in good game and was about to close the window when...

Flop - 8, 4, 3!

Turn - X

River - X

Now for a hand that was well played.

I had KsQs. I raised the standard pre-flop raise.

one caller

Flop - Ah,As,9s - he checks - i bet minimum... he thinks about it for some time and calls

Turn - 7d - he checks again, i bet the pot and he thinks about it again and calls.

River - Qs - he checks, I bet and he thinks about it and re-raises me... What do you do?

Me, I push! He shows me an A9.

I bust out two hands later, bubble!

Good game.

Hand Selection

I need to plug up some holes in my game and what I found out is that my hand selection is too loose in the beginning of the SNG and too tight when the blinds are high. This is completely contrary to the advice given by MNLGrind and GameFrog. Seeing this, I will keep you all posted on what happens. Recently I have hit a downward trend on my ROI. Hope this breakthrough changes it.

I want to mention another concept given by Phil Gordon... "it takes a better hand to call with than to bet with". I bring this up because I have also noticed that in my game, I have had a lot situations where I end up calling a re-raised hand and end up being behind! This is something else that I need to work on.

Good game.

Playing when tired...

I decide to play poker after a really long day at work and you know it. Not a good combination. fatigue and stress, not good for your poker skills. I played approximately 16 games because I wanted to catch my ROI back since I was in a very bad streak.

First game I finished seventh because i get turned... Ks vs 9s and a 9 on the turn. No, it was not an all in pre-flop. Flop no As then he pushed. Pre-flop he called, then on the flop he pushed. I knew I was ahead. The next 3 games after, still nothing. Then I take 1st, then 3rd then nothing again for 2 games, then 1st again. After this though I had a drought for another 4 games. The last four games is significant because I played a 10+1. OUCH. I decide to stop and rest.

I go to work and after work, although tempting. I decide to rest instead of playing. Woke up fresh and bam... I play 3 games. 2=3+.4 and 1=6+.5. I take 1st on all 3.

Now I am at 12% roi... sometimes it happens.

Lesson - make sure you are well rested when you play.

Good game.

Played a quick 6+.5 game... My standing...

This is what I have so far. As you can see I am consistent with multi table... consistently out of the money! LOL

Out of 38 games... Multi - % monied = 26.67%... Single - 47.83%

ROI - 24.46%- hope i am calculating it right... (money made/all tournament entry fees joined)

I was going to get ready for work and I said, what the heck. I have 2 hours, why not play... well before I knew it I was down to 255 at pokerstars with still 6 players to go! Blinds were 100-200 and I was the big blind! Long story short... 30 mins later I win it! From behind baby! Totally luck! Ha, ha!

The advice of gamefrog, MNLGrind and the other players out there saying that blind steals and smart play (selective aggression) is the key to being consistent in being in the money is so true. Read their blogs on how to improve your game. It works.

If you have advice. Do let me know.

Good Game.

Multi Tabling...

Wow, what can I say. This is harder than it seems. I seem to have a hard time focusing on a game and I found that focusing on one game is better. I know most of you will have your own way to stay focus but if you can share them, I will greatly appreciate it.

Anyhow, made an Esfandiari move earlier heads up. Limped in A's and the other guy pushed all in! Nice one.

I noticed that the games in the 10+1 vs the 5+.50 are totally different. Did you all notice that too? I have a tendency of making it in the money more with the 5+.50. For some reason the 10+1 games keep getting me blinded out almost. Any suggestions on how I can money more with the 10+1?

Good game.
