Missed a game...

I was invited to a friendly deep stack game but I was not able to go cause of work. I did however got a chance to stop by and say hi. Full table with lots of personality!

One hand I saw was with JG opening with a raise having 3 callers.

Flop all spades - 9, 10, 5 = checked all around

Turn - 9 - JG bets getting just one caller

River - 9 - JG stares the other player down and says... hmmmm then pushes.

He gets called - showdown - Caller - full house tens JG - Quad 9's! Nicely played! The funny thing about that was it could have been stopped on the get go... I sat in an empty seat cause the player was not there and he had AQ spades... JG raised... i would have re-raised. Flop... turn... river... maybe it would not have reaced that.

Since I wasn't able to play, I decide to play online after work instead and I went through about 4 SNG's with no money... must have used up all my luck playing another game! Ha, Ha... I decide to play a higher buy in SNG (you know... to catch all the losses!) and I was able to take that one down. Whoo hoo! At least I am not in the red for today!

Overall... still truckin'!

Good game.

6 SNG's...

I played about 6 SNG's today and I have about $1.60 to show for it as profit. I just can't believe the beats that come around. Hey, atleast it's still profit!

Good game.

Went out 8th in an SNG, 1st hand!

Ok, so it happened to me... I didn't go in with A's but we actually saw the flop...

I was holding Q3 off on the big blind and I saw a flop...

Q, 5, 2 - two diamonds... One player pushes and another calls... I think about it and I call...

Showdown... 9's for the initial all in and a flush draw for the caller and me with top pair.

I was about 56% to win, The pair 9's were 7% and the flush draw as a 30%.

Would you have done the same?

Good game.

The good, the bad and the ugly of online poker...

The good

There is a game just a click away. There is no fear of being raided. You can play in the comfort of your own pad without a care in the world. You are playing in dollars. The rake is lower than the standard here in the Philippines.

The bad

If you don't watch your bankroll, you can fall into the trap of trying to "win" your losses back. It takes up all your time. Too convenient! You don't leave your place. No exercise. Not everyone has access to the internet. Not everyone WINS!

The ugly!

There have been a lot of articles out that talk about cheating online and there were even a couple of people that were actually caught in the U.S. for cheating online but overall, this is something that is unavoidable. Lucky I haven't been a victim. What can we do... we can be aware of it and we can look for signs that cheating is happening.

What are some clues that people are cheating... there is a long time for players to act because it takes them longer to talk to each other about each others hands... there are a lot of pots that are raised and re-raised by the same players and finally... chip dumping.

Overall - just like anything else, there are pluses and minuses to online poker. It really depends on your goal.

I will post more on what is going on with my online roll by the end of the month.

Good game.
